N. Edisto nearshore and 4KI Feb 19&20, 2010

me, MIC LITE and the Cuz took off Friday bout 1:PM and put in at Cherry Point in my 16’CC the “Palmetto C”…decent day and the buoy reports were of pretty calm seas…made our way out to the N. Edisto nearshore reef and commenced to drown a coupla pints of fiddlas…caught lots of small BSBs and prolly 12-15 sheeps…kept 2 sheeps and called it a day…
On Saturday the three of us put in early at Cherry Point and headed out even further…buoy reports were of VERY flat seas so we flew past the guys at the nearshore and headed to 4KI…we made ■■■■ near 26MPH for over 12 miles heading out there…in a 16 footer…in February!!! I was very proud of the boat…
spotted the Miss Amanda then searched for some good structure…almost caught my first legal BSB but they were sucking it up to 11.75"…we moved around to a spot or two then noticed that Miss Amanda’s company had left so we rolled in behind them…well they must have been teasing them for a while cause we lit into a lot of sheeps…I bet the three of us boated 50, pulled hooks on 20 (including prolly 6-8 NICE fish) and ended up keeping about 8 fish, the biggest being MIC LITE’s 7 pounder! safe and fast run back in, cleaned the boat and fish and slept very well last night!
what an awesome time on the water…and I was so proud of the way the PALMETTO C handled…4KI with 3 guys in a 16 footer in Feb? woohoo!
all fish caught on fiddlers (this is another story:smiley:) in 47-51 degree and 37-45’ of water…
enjoy the pics…

one trip at a time my friend…I appreciate your enthusiasm but the PALMETTO C just stretched her 12 mile legs, let’s work on it from here!

So for a 4 KI run, would you launch from Folly and go out Stono, or trailer further and launch from Cherry Point?

My weather luck has been poor in past 10 weekends so I haven’t made it to 4 KI or LCA. Actually all I’ve seen is weekend rain or winds > 20 knots. Hopefully better weather windows when I start coming down again in two weeks.

Sweet photos. Congrats on the excellent run.

Very cool Bonzo. I can’t wait to get home and start killin’ some fish now. Reading all these nice reports lately makes me wanna quite the military, make my wife get a job, and start fishing full time!! Yeah, like that would ever happen.:smiley:

Personaly I would use Cherry Point, longer drive but nice ramp and the channel is alot easier to navigate than Stono

Stickman, I would agree with Capt. Ed. It is a very nice ramp and not a bad drive from your house, maybe 25 minutes…let me know when you’re coming back down and we’ll plan a trip.

nice job bonzo! bSB (bank sea bass)… not included in the BSB regs.

we tore up the 12-15" BSBs between 50 and 65’ both days this weekend. 17’cc 20 miles out and loved it. didn’t find any sheeps, but didn’t look too hard for the high relief while the rest of the bottom bite was on.

get your cuz some elbow-length kitchen gloves and an apron so he’ll stop pliering the crap out of little sheeps!
