Great day for making chili.
Looks great, I can never get that color. Mine always turns more brown and thick.
I use a 1 can of diced tomatoes and 1 can of the crushed tomatoes. I think the crushed tomatoes give it the red color.
My chili thickens up a bit after cooking. I had just started that chili. I never add anything to thicken, flour, corn starch, ect. As the beans break down they thicken the chili.
I have started adding about 6 oz of smoked pork butt to my chili. Gives it a slight smoky favor.
Ever try it with fresh tomatoes?

Yep, but I don’t think it makes enough difference to make the work of prepping fresh tomatoes.

I started adding Carolina Pride Smoked Sausage to my pots of chili. Cut it up in chunks and add it in while cooking down.
