Both have great seats. The Ultimate is more canoe like and the magic more of a sit on top. I believe the advantage of the Ultimate is its drier, but if you do get water in the boat the Magic is much better because of the scuppers. Both paddle about the same.

So, would you say the Majik might get you a little bit wet, but that its less likely to swamp (safer)???
The Magic is definately going to be the wetter ride of the two. The seat is the same (for the most part) and both can be set up solo or tandem. The Magic is a sit on top, so it does have the ability to self bail if you take a wave. The Ultimate is the more stable of the two, especially for standing up in, but you can stand in the Magic, just not as comfortably. For what it is worth, we sell many more ultimate boats than we do Magics at the store.
I do have both available for rent at Time Out if you would like to try one out for the day. We will be out at the East Coast Canoe and Kayak Festival the third weekend of April, and all of these boats will be available for demo.

I’ve been happy with my Majic. I wanted a sot, that could be tandem, with “The seat”…kinda limited given that.</font id=“blue”>
Thanks Y’all, appreciate input. I will be using this 90% of the time in backwater situations–creeks, etc. Maybe sometimes in the N edisto river. No ocean. Stability is real imp to me,(flyfish) and I do need to have the option to tandem. Have been a bit concerned with potential of the Ultimate to be swamped, don’t know if this is a realistic concern or not (?).
