Nauticstar 1910 and trim tabs

Hey all,
I could use some advice. I want to install tabs. I am hoping someone on here either owns or has installed trim tabs on a Nauticstar 1910 bay boat. Mine is an 2007 but they haven’t changed the hull mold yet. The main issue is that the transom is multi-dimensional for lack of a better word. It has rounded portions on the upper outer edges (colored area) and the flat surface is actually 3 separate surfaces differing by only a few degrees. Complicating things is the swim ladder. I have contacted the company and I was told the engineer would email me. It has been a few days and no email. Also I would enjoy hearing from locals on their experience. I love the boat and would like to add the ability to fine tune the ride especially when not so light weight friends are aboard. Thanks.

Whoevers rig this is has them. Plenty of room and tabs are worth every penny.

I would cut a notch out of the swim platform just big enough for the actuator to pass through. The white step beside the right mounting tube. Then position that tab so the actuator mount just misses the rounded color area. I would look at a 9x12 as it will require less cutting of the platform than a 12x12 will. Then just mount up the left tab. The actuator mount is fully adjustable for differing angles, so no problems there. The tab plate mount is obviously rigid and needs a straight plan on the bottom edge of the transom. Once that one is good, use it’s mounting point to match the right side. Just order them up, once you get them in hand it will go together easy.

Yes indeed! And a powerpole. Nice. Thanks for the pic. Hopefully NS will get back with me on best placement. I know they have Lenco tabs as an option on the newer boats.

I was wondering if I might have to cut out part of the swim platform. No big deal so long as peoples feet won’t hurt the actuator. The idea of going with a smaller tab size makes sense. I think I will have to because the transom changes angle slightly at the point of the strake on each side. They may have to be more toward the center of the boat than most applications but that shouldn’t be a problem on a 20’ boat I wouldn’t think.

Lenco tabs are electrically operated and therefore all you have to deal with is running wires. Bennett tabs are hydraulic and require a hole drilled through the transom for the hydraulic line. I have installed both on a couple of previous boats and the Lencos are more DIY friendly.
