Navigation Hazard

While we were heading out around 12:40 we noticed that marker #22 on the Ashely is laying down barely sticking up out of the water. This is the red marker on the upstream side of northbridge. We called the coast guard on the VHF and told them about it. They told us thank you for reporting and we carried on with our day. 4 hours later when we were heading in it was still the same way. We assumed that the coast guard would at LEAST mark it with something. Just wanted to give yall a heads up.

Tight lines!

That is the kind of thing that keeps me from boating at night. Scary.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”.

Not inshore, but on Lake Murray, I was coming back in to Hilton landing Saturday around 7:00, and came across a 20’ long log floating in the main lake with just about 2’ bobbing in and out of the water. It was just floating around the main channel and would go under, then bob back out at a perfect angle to really hurt someone. I tied a rope to it and drug it to a nearby beach and drug it up on land.

Really makes me rethink running the lake at night as well. Not enough to have to worry about drunk boaters, now have to consider whole trees that can throw you from the boat. I’ll be running 15 mph at night from now on.
