Navionics App Any Good

Hey fellas, thinking about getting the Navionics app for my phone. Would I be able to find/locate reefs with it? Basically, can the app show my location on the way to the reef? Just curious.

Yes, I use it for that purpose and it works well. I find it a little confusing to operate but that is the software UI design, not the functionality.
I have saved my spots as favorites. I go to Search => Favorites and click on the one I want. This brings up a map of the spot. Then I hit Distance. This draws a line from where I am to where I want to go with the distance. Just follow the line.
There is probably a better way, but I’m a dum dum so would like to hear from others if so.

Works well on my droid. The only problem I had was the first install. It warned about taking a long time to download and install and it wasn’t kidding. It took hours. I left it working and went to bed. But, once installed it has worked very well. Subsequent updates have been quick.

Where my garmin has a better user interface, the Navionics app has much more ancillary information like marinas, fuel, dockside restaurants, etc.

I would recommend it, especially as a redundant system for myy Garmin chart plotter.

X2. Its a great app especially when I hit the creeks and backwaters on the rivers around Georgetown. Like a little hand-held chartplotter, now they just need to figure out how to attach a mini-transducer and get a fishfinder on it.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

good back-up in the creeks at night… You need a signal for it to update - therefore, not so reliable off-shore.

I decided to bite the bullet because a friend of mine was saying he read a bunch of good reviews, and I really need a GPS. I still plan on getting one this winter for the boat, but this one definitely works in a pinch. It really sucks down the battery on my droid though.

That being said, it was worth the $15 by far.
