Finally decided to upgrade my old Eagle 642c igps and bought a Lowrance Elite-7 that just arrived the other day. I was outside this evening and couldn’t stand it, so I decided I wanted to power it up before I even had the xducer mounted. I grabbed the SD card out of the Eagle to install in the new unit only to find that the E-7 uses a micro/SD card.
Seems pretty obvious now that it would, but it was just something I didn’t even think about, so I am trying to figure out what my options are. I’ve been doing a little searching online and of course it’s easy enough to find a micro/SD to SD adapter, but I haven’t seen anything yet going the other way. Understandable, since for most applications, it would be physically impossible to do this in a cell phone or camera, but if there was such an adapter, it looks like it would fit if I left the cover open.
Also was wondering if Navionics may give me some credit on my old chip towards a new micro? Plan on calling Monday to see, but figured I would post here thinking other have had to have been through this before.
Did you get the HDI with the downscan? I want one. About your original question, I doubt you can trade in your card to navionics, but I could be wrong. You’re probably just going to have to pony up for the micro sd and then try to sell your other one to somebody.
I had the same problem going from hds lowrance to simrad nss. Navionics wouldn’t upgrade me because my chip was 2 yrs old. If less than a yr old, they’ll update it if you send your card in. The update as well as new cards now come on a micro sd inside an adaptor.
Thanks…I’ve had a couple of potential buyers show interest in both my Lake Map and Nautic Path coastal SD cards, so I’ll just be selling them.
Tigerfin, yea I did get the Elite 7 DSI. Lowrance had been saying that they would be out in Feb/Mar, but they wound up coming out on the first of the year. I borrowed a micro sd card and got on the lake for about 30 minutes yesterday to check I had the transducer set right and it worked great. Very simple to use…much cheaper than the HDS models, yet has all the features I care about.
I did quite a bit of searching before buying it and Hodges Marine had the best pricing if you do decide to get one.
