Navionics chip

How do you program a chip??

The Navionics chip is more a database of chart info. Your fish finder can keep waypoint data that is superimposed over the chip charts… you keep those waypoints in the fish finder and can export the waypoints, tracks, routes to a separate chip. The Navionics chip is just reference data.

That being said, the Android Navionics App is CHEAPER by FAR and is incredible. Make sure you get a look at that also. You’ll need a 8 inch or bigger tablet to make out the detail and it’s worth it.

What brand of machine are you putting it in?

Have two chips never used them they may not be any good??

Stonoman

What units did you buy them for and when were they purchased? I have a Navionics chip from 2006 still works great in my Humminbird but it lacks the latest features… also it cannot be updated… you would have to buy a new chip since that’s their biz model. I have the latest chip in my Humminbird and it’s great but when I’m in new waters, I use both the Humminbird with the latest chip + updates and the Android app (which is really outstanding on a tablet).

So… the chips are probably not worth anything if they are older than a year or two.

Chips will still work assuming they are not damaged. Most are compatible across a few brands. Like mentioned earlier, if they are old then they will not have the latest updates, but in most cases will get someone in the ballpark. I recently needed a navionics chip for new water that I’m going to and it cost me $189. Most new chips are around that price. Additionally, Navionics is currently running a rebate promotion, so old chips can be mailed in for a $50 to $75 rebate with the purchase of a new chip, so there is certainly some value to be had with most old chips.

Stonoman, The chips should have a map number on them. Post that number along with a picture of the chip on the swap shop. You should be able to get beer money for a few fishing trips out of them.
