Saw some stuff about new Sonar Chart shading on Navionics. Anybody tried it & is it worth renewing my chart? I am just trying to figure out the benefits… thanks
its nice, but not all units can do it. what unit do you have?
Proline 201WA
Aloha 24ft pontoon (LooneyToon)
Old Town stern with 7.5 johnson
Here is a link to Navionics’ Compatibility guide to see which units are compatible with each chart card. If you can run the Platinum+ or HotMaps Platinum in your unit you are good to GO.
I have the SC-N. FL Platinum+ card in my Lowrance HDS Live, updated it with the new SonarChart Shading. Very easy on my eyes and gives me an easier understanding of the contours. Like taking the water out and seeing whats out there.
Here are a couple screenshots of some areas around here I gathered the other day…
I can see I need to get one! Thanks Capt.
I hoped Captfields would chime in! He seems to have that unit figured out pretty well! Thanks for sharing

I’ve got it downloaded but haven’t put it in my Simrad yet. To get the update you’ve got to have a current subscription and use the desktop app to do the update. It’s over 2 GB of data to download.

Yes, with an active subscription you can get the update. Without it, there is an option right now that I know about. The $30 off Platinum card sale which ends sooon, as in tomorrow. I went ahead and got a new card, the SC-N. FL Platinum+ card, so I could take advantage of the new SonarChart Shading feature.
