any business around there on the water has strict coast guard regs. You would have to have a TWIC card just to go on there property. I worked at a business on shipyard creek. No one was allowed anywhere on the property. lowcountry paddlers doesnt do much with fishing. I know several people in that club.
I see people fishing from abandoned piers in shipyard pretty much everytime im in there, and there getting there by car… could be employees, but they dont appear to be. Ive never had a problem getting on the road that runs along the river (marina mile?) I think.
Ask the marinas downtown. The one near me has been gracious enough to allow me to use a ramp that they don’t ever use. Just call the marina or business where you want to put in and be very nice and explain your case. I bet 9 times out of 10 you will get the all clear. Just remember to get the name of the person who said you could go there in case someone else tries to run you off.

There’s a road behind the marina that goes down to a creek just off the Cooper. There’s a spot that would be real good to put in down that road a short distance. Level with a good hard bottom. It would be a short paddle to the Cooper from there. Take a look at thearea on wikimapia.com and you can see the dirt/gravel road come right down to the edge. The landing I’m referring to is righ by the barge. I’ve seen it up close and personal andit looks real doable. I go there to catch fiddler crabs.
