kill em all
Looks like a fun day. No wonder this site is dying from lack of post.
I agree Fat Cat, there are a lot of folks that just don’t want to participate. And I don’t blame them. The carphuggers are in full force in this thread.
I wanted to post a report from Thursday but didn’t want to rile everyone up with a pic of a 30 plus pound snapper that got bit in half…
There is a lot of irony in some of these posts. I got a good chuckle out of a few
“mr keys”
and to add fuel to this, we have the many that brag about catching and releasing 40-60 reds or trout on a single inshore trip. To think that they all swim off alive is just a fantasy. never happen. Edit: some are going to die.
It’s all good! And life is good! and fried pork chops are super!

Fred, why would releasing inshore caught reds or trout have a high mortality rate? Circle hooks, right?
NN
NN ; Can’t say the mortality rate is as high as Fred said but i agree
with him that the mortality rate is much higher than most think. Just notice the pics that are posted and how most fish are being handled ,
ie; fingers in gills is a sure kill , squeezing smaller one till their eyes pop , cradeling them like newborn babies is wipeing the slime off of them , picking large ones up with boga grips,“imagine someone picking you up by the jaw or lip” , keeping them out of water to get all the smiles just right.
I fish every chance i get and know that some things are unavoidable, but i do try to handle my throw backs in ways to give them a better chance to survive…Like i said just look at the pics posted they tell the story better than I!!![:0][:0][:0]

Sorry, I edited my post. I did mean to say that many would die. On trout personally I’ve had better release rate with a circle hook but on spot tail I’ve actually had more gut hooked with using a circle hook. I m guiessing difference is me watching the cork very close as apossed to missing initial bit on the bottom.

Try an “Owen Lupton” Rig. I’ve been rigging smaller versions of these for slot size drum too…http://www.ncangler.com/articles/saltwater-angler-articles-3/the-majik-drum-rig-1070/
very good article and makes a lot of sense:smiley:

Playing tennis one day, Doubles. At the very beginning of the match, my partner with whom I had never played together with before began to give me tennis lessons. Absolutely free of charge. HOWEVER, he was making the same mistakes as me. After a few more “lessons” I politely told him that I would gladly stop hitting balls out and into the net if he would. Till that happened, I didn’t need nor appreciate his attempts to school me.
Is the comparison lost on anyone?
Nice catch EX…good post…
LOL. And people continuously ask “where have all the reports gone”. Looks like fun fellas, can’t wait to get out myself.
Stopped posting reports here a while back after a particularly condescending session with the “Fishing Po’lice”.
Been on this site for a long time; there used to be a lot more reporters and posts.

How about opening up a new thread for “how to properly hold and release fish” instead of hijacking someone’s post about a great day on the water. One I’m sure they were proud of. And rightfully so. Post on folks!!!
