Fished the NSR this AM and there were a lot of birds working the area. Periodically, some bait would start boiling on the surface setting the birds into action. I assume some bigger fish we chasing the bait up to the surface but never saw what those bigger fish were. I’m guessing Spanish or blues but usually you’ll see some Spanish launch out of the water. I also had an 8 inch finger mullet on a float rig about 75 feet behind the boat assuming whatever was chasing the other bait would hit that mullet but nothing ever did.
We did catch a jack on a bottom rig so maybe that’s what was chasing the bait but was surprised that mullet survived
