Snuck out yesterday, 3/27, before the gale today.
About 10 days ago, tried trolling near shore on the way out - nada. Location outside of St. Helena sound.
Yesterday at the exact same area, first migratory near shore fish showed up. False albacore and Spanish. No blues or Atlantic Bonito but only trolled about an hour and a half. Water temperature almost exactly 60 degrees compared to 58 the prior attempt. False albacore caught under working terns.
The surprise hit of the sushi/sashimi sampler with guests was mackerel sujime style. If you don’t ordinarily like mackerel try it, you might be surprised.
Not posting much anymore but there used to be some on this site that liked to fish near shore who might want to know fish were starting to show up.
Bottom fishing still decent in 90 feet but fish caught changing a bit with the season. Water temperature 63 degrees, still not the time for kingfish. Only a few zillion (slightly exaggerating) rarely seen ARS among the other fish. Sharked twice, not a terrible rate of loss to the critically endangered tax man.
