Nearshore 2/19

Offshore forecast was pretty nasty, so we went out for some nearshore action instead. It was a little choppy on the ride out to the first spot, but by 10am, the ocean was flat calm. Ran everywhere else at 40+ knots as smooth as can be.
The endangered black sea bass were so thick, could hardly keep the bait in the water long enough to catch anything else. Ended the day with at least 4 dozen keeper sized black sea bass (all released to fight another day), 3 sheepheads, a pinkie, and a spiny dogfish.
Not the best day for filling up the cooler, but definitely a good time researching the bsb population.

Nice. Sounds like it’s gonna be tough to target any fish with the BSB. I have had a trip before to the Y and didn’t catch 1 BSB. Problem is that all we caught mainly were B-Liners.
