Anybody go to the nearshore reef on Saturday 3/9? It was my first time past the jetties and seemed rougher than the forecast predicted (1.5-2.0 ft at 5 sec). Was wondering if others agreed?

2’ at 5 sec. is rough. It isn’t 6’ swells but bumpy washing machine rough. Look for long period waves. 2’ at 10 sec. is pretty flat feeling.

Saturday was pretty nice. We fished out to 125 feet. Wave direction was the key.

yep we went out to 4Ki, it wasn’t the smoothest day to be out there in a bayboat… 2-3ft at 5 seconds is probably realistic, mainly 2’s with an occasional 4… we caught fish, but didn’t stay too long because it was getting a little uncomfortable… saw several boats on the nearshore reef a couple miles out from the inlet, only 2 others out where we were and they didn’t stay long either… rolled out and back in at about 17kts comfortably, any more than that and we would hit the swells harder than I wanted to…

Thanks for everyone’s input. Good to know that that forecast isn’t likely to be comfortable for too long. I did the same, fished for just an hour or so, caught a few, but came back in early to inshore fish. Hopefully better forecasts soon.
March winds!
