Went to the Nearshore reef yeasterday. 30+ Black Sea Bass (5 keepers, 1-14 in Red Drum, 1-15 in Black drum. Few small trout and weekfish, as well as a few blue fish and 1 token toadfish. Fish hit as soon as bait hit the bottom. Cut shrimp and yelow gulp Swimming Mullet worked great. Left at 10AM with pea soap fog with maybe 100ft visability. If not for GPS would not know where you were in the harbor/jetties. We went out between the jetties and the bouys to avoid the Big ships. The harbor was glassy going out but had to go slow because of visability. Seas at Nearshore Reef were 1-2 foot. Fog cleared in the for a nice ride home. Fun day on the water
always good when you’re catching fish

Glad you made it safe and had a great catch! One question, what would you have done if a commercial boat had been 100 ft. away before you saw him? Sometimes hard to hear when you are near the rocks and the waves are hitting the rocks. Just asking. I’ve done it myself w/GPS and no radar but am wondering about the saneness of that approach as I become more seasoned.

Radar is a must in those conditions.

We went out slow… All the other boats were going out or coming in slow as well. We could here the big ships’ fog horn and then see them in the distance. Visability may have been more than a few hundred feet and not as bad as I thought. We had pleanty of time to see the other smaller boats/ships ( less than 100ft left) and them to see us. Radar will be our next up grade.
How is it I’ve been on this site since day 1 and have fewer posts than F Boy? I mean, I don’t get to fish as much as most of you guys these days, but what’s FBs fishing trip to posting ratio? 1:200? 1:250? Dude. Put…the…keyboard…down…
I like to check reports and how people are doing when I get home from work…
Do I hurt your feelings when I post? you can dry your tears now… I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fishing post from you… I have had my boat since july…taken it out 3 times, posted each time…then a few striper fishing days.
Do you not have anything better to do than worry about what I’m doing? Man some people here need to worry more about fishing than they do others private lives…
Pretty much all day I think about fishing, tactics, what I want to do when I go out next, where I want to go, what I want to catch, etc…then when I get home this is my way to learn and get new ideas to ponder the next day!
Thanks for the comment though…
