I went out last night to the near shore reef and fished before this front hit. The reef is completely covered up in weakfish. Cast after cast produced huge weakfish but the only problem is the one per person per day limit. Very frustrating to catch so many and only be allowed one. The bsb never even got a chance to hit. Fun on light tackle but was looking for some big reds.
Big reds especially big females still hanging around inlets and sandbars in big numbers. Been catching 40"+ fish consistently in 6-8ft of fast moving water between bars outside inlets

They were hitting everything I dropped down. Squid, shrimp and cut bait. I literally only caught 3 bsb because the weakfish beat them to it everytime. Right now is a great time to fish the reef but this weather isn’t cooperating with my days off!
Where is the near shore reef?
Follow the jetties out and stay in the shipping channel. I believe it’s the third channel marker after the jetties. The reef will be located off your port side and it is marked by a small yellow reef marker.
