Need a lesson on muddy water

Came down from upstate to fish Sunday afternoon and Monday, soon discovered the Wando and numerous creeks off of it were very muddy to the point of almost zero visibility. There has not been a bunch of rain to cause this so can someone please give me a lesson as to why this occurred.???

It is most likely due to the higher than normal tides due to the new moon and this is pushing the mud out.

This ^^ use artificials with scent and/or sound

Don’t let the muddy water discourage you…especially in the wando…Work good looking banks with popping cork with bait/doa or a grub/jighead and you’ll be fine. It sounds very backwards, but I was once told (15+years ago) that I should use light colored artificials on a sunny day and dark on cloudy days…goes completely against my logic but it works…same for muddy water, the bait doesn’t have to be obnoxiously loud or bright, just don’t fish it terribly fast and you’ll be fine. Muddy/dirty water actually makes it easier for the angler in my opinion…less stealth/accuracy required.
Goodluck.

As mentioned, try scent. You might try also slowing down some of your fishing…
I have been using a jerk shad with pro cure with luck by slowing down my retrieve on a flutter hook. Sometimes a fish will pick it up while on the bottom. Those jig heads with the rolling eyes work great as well. I will never go back to the cheap ones again.

Also buy the better rattle corks with the brass balls for more sound. Cast much better. Better casting in the breeze means a lot when you are sighting them. Good luck

Thanks for all the advice----we actually did land 4 slot reds, caught my first red on a
Glow trout eye jig rigged with black-gold Z-man curly tail fished pretty much exactly as the advice given, super slow after giving it a good pro-cure bath.
I will try the popping cork on my next encounter with muddy water----------thanks again to all who shared their knowledge.

Glow was a good choice in dirty water. Well done on the catching
