Need a little help for friday morning...

I know the striper bite has been turned off lately, but we are going to try in the morning around 5am. Just bought 2 umbrella rigs that I want to use. Anything else you suggest while I troll?

What about if I tie up to one of the towers, what would you suggest then?

Thanks for any help!

I haven’t been out in 3 weeks, been holding off for the fall. So I am not the best person…I would almost be willing to try everything from 20’ down to 50’ trolling depth, though not sure where/what depth the fish are holding right now. if you tie up to the tower try live blue backs on down rods…again, I would vary depth…

I am waiting for the cool weather to troll the surface down to 10’ with a little casting action.

If you are launching at the dam go straight across the lake like you are going to Jakes landing. Before you leave the main body of the lake there is a big point on your right that divides the river and the creek. If you look on a contour map you will see it. Fish were all over that point last weekend. I only caught one, but they were there. Hopefully they are adjusting better now.

A guy saturday night was catching fish tied off to the towers. he was fishing herring 35’ down. But like jpru said, vary your depth to see where they are hitting. Another thing to remember is they will generally come up for bait, not go down. So fish above them. I am probably going out saturday morning. So a friday report would be appreciated. Also watch for the thursday report on MSC.

Keep an eye on the depth, this lake is full of humps and brush piles and they come out of nowhere some times and they will eat your rigs. Remember the depth chart if you are using downriggers and that will help a lot.

I have never been landlocked Striper fishing but I have put more then a few thousand miles offshore fishing for them. I have caught them on umbrella rigs but they never perform as well as a mojo with a bunker spoon.

Every time I fished with a mojo & bunker spoon attached I have never caught any smaller then 36". I also use the chartruse streach 25 which has always performed well.

shoot me an email and I will give you a detailed explination on how to make my rig.

Steve- how did you do this morning?

Yeah, have any luck?

He must have found them, now he will be tight lipped:stuck_out_tongue: I am giving it a try in the AM, hope the rain cools the surface some. Don’t know if we got enough to make much of a difference.

I ended up having a change of plans last minute. I tried to go out Saturday night, but as soon as I got on the lake the wind picked up along with the rain and the lightning. I decided I wasn’t going to wait it out so I threw up the curtains and made it back to Pine Island in a hurry.

I didn’t even get to try out my new Stretch 25+'s or U-Rigs!

It looks like I’ll get the chance to do that on Tues, Wed, AND Thurs! Anyone want to go and show a newbie their skills?
