Please, take a few minutes and email your state senator asking for his / her support of bill H 4548. This is the bill that offers some protection for the Striped Bass population in the lower Saluda and Santee lakes. A great deal of time and effort was invested by the fishery stakeholders and DNR to reach a workable set of regulations. The bill was unanimously accepted by the House but has stalled in the Senate. Residents of Calhoun, Clarendon and Orangeburg Counties can have a significant influence in the support of this measure and all SC citizens concerned with the decline of stripers in the Santee system should voice their support. Here is a copy of the letter that I sent my senator:

Dear (your senators name here),
I am writing to ask for your support of H 4548, a bill offering protection to the Striped Bass population in the Lower Saluda River and Santee Lakes. A great amount of effort by the stakeholders in the fishery and DNR has been expended to reach a workable set of regulations. It would be a shame for it die in the Senate committee, after being unanimously accepted by the House. Thank you for your consideration of this request.
