Need a respirator for lead pouring

Anyone know the best one to get?

I have gotten a few molds and made about 120 egg sinkers (6,8,10 & 12 oz) last weekend as well as some 5 and 7oz flutter Jigs I covered with Courtlands Jigskinz…They look really good and will be trying out soon.

Even though pouring out under shed with fan there is no way to get away from some of these nasty fumes I feel and want to be safe.

Picked up another 200 lbs of lead today so I can probably hook some of you up for a deal.

Got a new 4oz. Diamond Jig mold I have yet to break in as well.

Thanks,
NN

If you are just trying to avoid the fumes of the organic crud coming off of the melting lead (assuming this is something like spent tire weights etc), then you should be just fine buying one of those paint respirator masks from Lowes. They use a dust-free activated carbon filter. I use one every DAY in my shop when spraying industrial finishes, and even though their natural smell is acetone, I can’t smell a thing coming through that respirator. I pour my own egg, pyramid, and split shots, but I just walk away from the stuff when it’s burning off dross. Usually outdoors there is more than enough breeze to keep the fumes away from me. But, an organic mask is a good idea nonetheless.

This is the mask I use for spraying paint. Store it in a GOOD quality zip-lock bag when not being used, it will last you MUCH longer if you keep it sealed up airtight.
