redingtons are great low $$ reel as well. very tough and good drags. ive fished a 5/6 in AK for 11yrs for grayling/trout and u cant beat it, and im pretty hard on reels there what with all the drinkin/smokin/ runnin from bears and all!!
I second the Okumas… Redington is made by sage to they are pretty good but I LOVE my Okumas…

Give her a cascade. You know shes gonna drop it in the water. Henry’s catalog has them down for 31 bucks retail. A pflueger is about the same price. But not the same quality in my opinion.
Sounds like you’ve got a great problem. Wish I had a gf that wanted to fly fish. Or just a gf. Pflueger makes a good/tough reel for about 60
