Need a Tow out of Garris

I am hoping to fish the north side and front of caper island on wed and was hoping to catch a tow from someone who will be out there that day(9-10am). Ill be happy to give that person some gas money. I am looking to try and go for tarpon and large reds on the yak but not be to tired from paddling there and back. Thanks

If you can’t get a ride, I really don’t think that paddle is bad (45min each way). Personally, I would fish that sand bar at lowtide. I would pull the yak up and set some sandspikes out. What are you gonna do about the current and wind -beachfront from a yak?
I’d join you on a Sat or Sunday.

I have never really had too much of a problem fishing out of that yak in the waves. It is 16’ and it has foot pedals, which makes paddling a breeze even in current and wind. As far as Sat or Sun, it is not really possible bc i am a restaurant manager, but if you ever get off during the week let me know.

If you do this, please let us know how it worked. I camp that area a bit (via motorboat) and sound like fun.

So far it is a no go. I have not found a tow yet and i might just join dolphin D and some other guys at the ville if that doesnt work.

45 minute paddle? What am I missing? I went out of Garris once and from there to Anderson Creek, mouth of the bay, is a pretty long ways. Capers looks like quite a bit farther.

yea, I prob. exagerated a bit. But I do think (in the touring boat) I could make it to north capers front beach in an hour from Garris.

That’s moving pretty good.

I recently acquired a Tarpon 160i which is a lot faster than the yak I took out there (but certainly not touring yak fast). However it’s probably fast enough that I’d be up for a day trip out there sometime.

I can occasionally make a Saturday. Mondays are generally good, as are Thursdays right now. Some Fridays too.

Wednesday is usually free but is my hangover sleep late day, as Tuesday is my drinking night, so I don’t know how early I’d be up and around.

This is starting to sound like a the beginnings of a plan. Should there be plans made for such a trip???

It would have to be soon if you want to chase Tarpon or October for big breeder reds in the surf.

The big reds are in the surf there a good bit. I would like to try as early as next week.

My days are as posted, for the near future. Sorry about Tuesdays being out, but I live up in Murrells Inlet and have to work all night on Tuesdays, would probably be too worn out.

Who knows how the tides run around there? Need to use them on a trip like that.
