Just wanted to see how everyone sets up using their planer board when trolling for kings. This will be the first time using one for my dad and myself.I was planning on tying it on the anchor cleat with some heavy duty mono (100 or so) and then use a double snap swivel and rubber band to attach the bait line to it. Either going to use a large spoon or if we catch bait put it on a standard king rig, wire and a stinger. We will also be trolling on top water as well, but wanted to have something a little lower in the water.
I run my planers similar to what you are explaining but I use about 10ft of 550 cord from the cleat to a swivel then 100lb mono and instead of a snap swivel I use a clear shower curtain ring and a rubber band to carry the line down the planner rope pretty easy and works well for me.
