need advice / guidance

I found a '87 McKee Craft Hammerhead 22 with twin Mariner 200’s. Can anyone offer any knowledge about this boat. The 2 floor sections between the console and the transom are soft but as they are removeable panels it doesn’t seem like a big deal to repair. I’m not looking for anything for offshore but mainly for freshwater striper fishing and the price is definitely bearable. Looks like it’s built like a tank but I just don’t know what years are good or bad for this model and any specific problems to look for. Thanks in advance for the help!

I’m talking from old memories… but, if I remember correctly, the Hammerhead is a big boat. If you were looking for a really good off shore hull to rehab, I’d say you found a great candidate. However, I think it would be enormous for strippers on fresh water. 'Way to big for any water sports. 'Burn tons of gas. 'Better have a capable tow vehicle.

For fresh water lakes and anything short of offshore, I’d look for something more size appropriate.

17’ Henry O Hornet
26’ Palmer Scott

Yeah…it’s a 23’ 11" if I remember correctly and it is big but I have myself and 2 boys fishing with me so I would rather have something a little big rather than too small. Lake Murray gets pretty rough in the afternoons during the summer. The biggest attraction besides having the McKee reputation is the price seems pretty good at ~ 5k. But, like I said I don’t know much about this particular model and it may be a pos so that’s why I’m asking for advice from those more knowledgeable than myself. Thanks
