I am new to the Charleston area and trying to get started fishing just to take a mental break from school. I haven’t done much saltwater fishing, other than catching spots off the pier/intercostal waterway up in Ocean Isle, NC. Any advice on setup, lures/rigs, etc. for a newbie would be greatly appreciated! Recently I’ve tried using Carolina rigs and double drop rigs with frozen shrimp and cut mullet, and a few artificial DOA shrimp, but not much luck. No boat, so I’d mostly be surf/pier fishing or fishing from a dock. Specifically looking to catch reds or flounder, but am open to suggestions. Thanks!!

Best advice on your questions is on the surf/pier forum, go back
several months/pages. By what you stated about rigs and bait
you just need to bone up a little on surf troughs and methods, you’ll
find the answer to most if not all of your questions there…
Good luck and share your results!!!
