Need Advice

There is a day coming up (which we will not mention just in case) that comes before Monday. I have been looking at the marine forecasts and it says 2ft up to 20 miles out and then 3-5 past that. Winds are looking to be SW at 5 kts. I have a 21ft Seafox commander and was wondering if the forecast stays the same if it would be possible to head offshore. I am still very new to this offshore business and want to make sure I don’t make a mistake that could cost me or my friends their lives.

Thanks for any help!

Planning to go in a 21’ boat, but only about 25-30 miles out. Looks decent so far.

That day was looking nice. Forecast is starting to change a bit. Probably has to do with all the banter on this site! This time of year, if you end up in the water you can be dead in 45 min. Keep that in mind. I have an EPIRB, spot. two handheld radios. One primary VHF, and a life raft. Not to mention my hull is fully foam filled and in theory is supposed to be unsinkable. I feel like if things go south myself and my crew will survive.

SchoolsOut1 where do you plan on launching from and what time? Any interest in buddy boating?

Jiggiejig I agree 100%, I don’t have all the bells and whistles you do other than the spot. That’s why I like to get advice from guys that have first hand experience going offshore!

If the forecast holds there will be some boats out that day for sure. Luck Dragon on 65. Buoy Weather and ReefCast are starting to sniff a stronger than originally forecasted wind. Keep an eye on it.

Somewhere out of Mt. P…probably Remleys. I’m gonna make the final call tomorrow afternoon, I guess. We can buddy up if you want…will be heading south to an area I like that isn’t a super secret so, if we go, you can get some decent numbers from me

I would appreciate it, any time I have been offshore with my buddy he took us out past y-73 and we usually limited out on something out there! I will PM you my phone number and we can text back and forth if you want. I live in the north end of Mt. P so I will be launching from Remleys as well.

We’re heading out 25 miles. Leaving from Remley’s @ 6am. We’ll be in sea foam green 25 Gamefish. If seas are as swelled out as they have forecasted I’ll be running about 35mph out

We’ll probably be there around same time…yellow 21 Sailfish. Holler if you see us. Can’t go as fast as you, though…
