Building a bow platform for my Jon boat. Were gonna run it with right angle cut aluminum supports and rivet it over existing semi step…
We need some diamon cut aluminum in enough gauge to support weight but not flex (I believe 28ga is at Lowe’s if that’s correct) at Lowe’s its $78 for a 24x48" sheet which is all we need. Can anybody get us a little better price on this stuff? We also are thinking of making a grab rail out of sections of square and rounded aluminum. Anybody into this kind of stuff that we could get it for a better price? It’s roughly 150$ just to build a tiny platoform…
i have a platform already built for a jon boat. It is made with diamond plate and aluminum angle. It sits about 18’ over the bow. I would like to sell and will make you a great deal. PM me if interested and I have some pics I can sent to you.

28ga. is pretty thin stuff, approximately .013" = less than 1/64". I would use 1/8" for something like that. I pay about $200.00 for a 4’ X 8’ sheet of 1/8" aluminum diamond plate. Let me know what size you need, and I’ll see what I can come up with. I also might be able to help with material for your grabrail. And yes, aluminum is expensive. $150.00 is not too bad for a small platform.

JMH- I’ve been planning on riveting it to an existing small “platform” I’ve seen yours for sale and I don’t believe it’ll work.
T-TOPLESS thanks ill check on that
HAPPY BOB I’m not quite sure on the gauge I just remember hearing 28ga at the Time. I’d need a 24x48 " section or at least 24x38"(the exact dimensions). And I’m not 100% on the grab rail, I’ve gotta see how the boat rides first. Try and get back to me on the platform when youve got the time.
I’ve got a couple of pieces that are approx. 1/8" X 12" X 48" if that will work for you. $45.00

Might I suggest you go with something like Starboard? I used some 1" thick starboard for the bow of my semi-v (it’s not a platform for standing, but it could have been easily).
The Starboard will be heavier, and may cost a little more, but it will never need painting.
Happy bob- thanks, ill look into it and get back to you.
Redfish_matt- thanks for the suggestion. I’ve thought about that, and for the extra weight and money its just not worth it. Maybe if I was decking out a nicer Jon boat with a better motor is use that, and might use it as a poling platform. But we have to camo out the boat anyways for duck hunting. Thanks.
Anybody got any diamond plate? Or know anybody that has some?
