Guys I plan on fishing with some crab tomorrow but have to purchase live crab tonight, how should I prep the crab.
Keep live as long as possible clean and halve tomorrow .
2 put them on ice tonight clean and halve tomorrow .
3 clean and halve tonight and freeze.
Not sure which way is the right or best way to go. Thanks for any suggestions
I pull the claws off and put the crabs in a ziplock bag in my bait frig. They are usually still alive the next morning. I take the claws with me so I can crush them up for chum.
I keep them live and then while on the way out I’ll put one or two crabs in a bucket and cover them with ice. Then when I go to halve them they are not moving (trying to bite you!!!). I usually only just put one or two crabs in my spread and wind up releasing the remaining live ones.
