Hey guys. I recently bought a Jon boat about 14ft to get into fishing more and to enjoy the water. I usually fish at my local dock and catch fish, but not a lot or big ones. So with buying a Jon boat I’m excited about expanding where I can fish and catch some bigger fish. Only problem is I’m not exactly sure where I should go. Any tips for fishing spots, bait, and stuff like that? Thanks so much.
The biggest mistake you can make with a boat is deciding to run all over the place, since you were used to shore fishing and being limited in movement.
I assume you have a gas motor. Get an inexpensive electric trolling motor. Put in at a ramp and start fishing. Work one side with the tide, when the tide changes work the other side.
Take a notebook and your camera phone, take pictures at low tide, take notes about what you see, and learn bit by bit.
You’ll figure out you can hit a nice looking spot and catch nothing…solely because they bite at a different tide stage.
good post pitcher.
Very good info, also might add to go into unfamiliar areas on dead low in case you
Ground out , don’t want to run aground on a falling tide , makes for a loong wait.

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.
