need help with my Lowrance Elit-5 DSI

Hey you guys I need a little help.I just bout me a boat and it came with a Lowrance Elite-5 DSI on it. I am new to these GPS and plotters. My questions are:
1* Do I need a fresh or saltwater card to use gps
2* Do I need a card to mark areas to fish and save for later
Basically I wanna be able to mark some spots where I caught fish and also want to go out to jetties but be able to follow a trail there and back from any ramp…

THANKS FOR THE HELP IN ADVANCE

It should have come preloaded with a base map (very undetailed just land and water outline). You will be able to track heading out and still use that track to come back in , But I would reccomend getting a navionics gold card and if you buy a good one that’s for coastal areas it will include lake Moultrie if assuming your in the Charleston area. Some advice never rely on your electronics as your only navigational tool keep your eyes forward its easy to daydream at the screen while underway .

Thanks Rob70. Very true. Just want to make sure if im out in jetties I dont get turnesd around going wrong direction. Also want to be able to mark fish and certain fishing spots

if its anything like the elite series you dont need a aftermarket navionics map… depending on your area the base map may be the same as a navionics platnium plus(was the case for winyah bay)

it should save your tracks/cookie trail as well as the spots you mark.

you can always save specific tracks that you wish to keep… mine use to save everything which would slow down processing with 2 seasons worth of running… so i would recommend saving the few you want and deleting the rest every so often.

sc shark you right. I went to Lake Hartwell sunday and played with it all day. I learned alot about it and mapped a few places andttrails.Loving that unit. Ready to come back to Charleston now and run boat to jetties when weathet permit…
Thanks you guys.
