I’m looking at the Sea Hunt line for my next boat. Like the Triton and Gamefisher Series. Looking at 22’ - 24’. How well do these boat handle our ocean off of SC? I run out of Hilton Head and make about 20 or so trips up to 40 miles out.

We have a Triton 225 with a 250 Yamaha which we’ve had for a year and we love it. Now that being said, let me also say that although my wife and I have fished for quite awhile, this is the first boat we purchased and thus are not very boat knowledgeable. The last year has been a learning experience; however, the boat has been great and has put up with all we’ve put it through as new, inexperienced boat owners. It is dry, comfortable, and has lots of fishing space. Before the purchase, I went to the Sea Hunt factory for a tour, to see first hand the building process, and to get all of my questions answered. The people there were great and gave me some ideas about options I might want. One of those was the extra livewell in the leaning post which I believe is a “must have” as you do not lose any space for what you get. Also, because I am 6’4" we were able to get our T-Top two inches taller which saves my head from the rod holders on the side. We’ve not been out 40 miles (only 13) but in time we’ll be out there. For us it has been a great boat and has certainly survived all we have put it through. The only thing is that I wish it had more rod holders in the gunwales. We got our Sea Hunt from David Perry at Marine Service Center in Murrell’s Inlet, a first class guy and dealership. I imagine that the larger ones with multi engines would be even nicer.

There is a very experienced offshore fisherman on this site who routinely heads out on a 24’ Sea Hunt.
