Seebee,
Some of my favorite fishing trips were with my grandfather up on the Manistee river and lake Michigan for king salmon. Its an awesome place to fish. Our kings here are abundant in the shipping channel and beyond. PM me and ill help.
Seebee, this is a great site, probably one of the best fishing sites on the east coast. These guys are just ribbing you. Stick with CF.com. that first response of kings close by and 40-60 miles for dolphin etc was spot on.
That other post on 23-25’ starter boat was spot on too. I run a beefy 21’ and am REAL picky about which days I head offshore. Have fun exploring the wonders of the offshore salt. Every trip you will see something you have never seen before.
thanks Local C…this looks to be a great site…I appreciate all the informative feed back posted and PM’ed…even appreciate Interceptors comments…really was good stuff…sound like something I would post…but I would of added a 9.5 Johnson two stroke and a flat bottom :0)
@Interceptor 4… sorry i blew off on you…all in good spirit
will continue to read for now and perhaps post in the near future…once my wife decides which boat im getting…ugh
Your mass of fish will be 55+ miles for Mahi. Started late, in June, this year for Mahi and all of our success came 65-70 miles out. My favorite time for Wahoo is April/May between 55-60 miles. Haven’t figured out nor tried much here for Kings. Just got home a few minutes ago from a 2 week trip to marathon and Ft Lauderdale. Fished 4-6’ by 3-4 seconds for a week in Ft Lauderdale with no luck. Luckily lines in 1.8 miles outside the pass. Gave me a new appreciation for what I can handle in Charleston now when fishing closer in.
