So I’m going to test out my conventional surf setups tomorrow but I don’t have any heavy weights, what’s a tackle shop that sells 6-8oz+ lead?

Pucker up. The price of lead has gotten crazy in my opinion. Anyone looking to make some side money could make a killing making weights and selling them. My source passed away last October so his wife has taken over but she only does it when she feels like it.

Sharky, I think once you post on here, you won’t be able to pour lead fast enough! But ill buy some… do you live on folly beach, kinda by the sandbar? My dad was talking about somebody over their pouring fishing weights and selling them but I’ve never been able to get in touch with him!
I live near Lexington.i have a place on folly.i used to sell to the pier.

You tuning up for Hatteras? I have some 6-8 oz trolling weights I use to tune my saltist up with…

Lead prices are crazy right now. We’ve got a buyer that is paying .28lb for batteries. Hold on to your used batteries and pay the $5.00 core charge. I lot of sinkers in one.

Hmmm, I may have to start digging lead out of all the ranges I shoot at.
I have about 150lbs of old tire weights I’d be willing to work out in trade for someone who pours. Maybe some bank, egg and cannonballs or others for bottom fishing. I can get more weights at a decent cost too, well I think so anyway.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

i recently got everything to start making my own weights and Flutter/Diamond jigs.
Just melted the lead I have and came out with 122 lbs of good clean ingots. About 70 lbs of it is wheel weights and the rest some other lead that is softer and took much less skimming to clean. Worked out well for my first time fooling with it.
Gonna start pouring the jigs & weights next week. I bought several off the Jigskinz from Courtland to cover my jigs.
I am only out of pocket for the Do-it molds and Skinz so far!
My egg sinker molds are for 6, 8, 10 and 12 oz and I am thinking it is going to be tricky knowing when to pull the rod out at the right time.
Thanks in advance for any advice guy’s.

I bought some clean lead not long ago off ebay. With those flat rate boxes shipping was super cheap for a ridiculously heavy box. If you are going to melt down old wheel weights make sure they are really clean or do it outside or your house will have a touch of an aroma for awhile (like 2 months)

Don’t melt lead in your house or even in a shop.
The fumes are nasty.
I do mine outside with a small box fan to make sure I have fresh air and I wear a respirator.
Salty, shoot me a PM if you need someone to help you with your tire weights.
I don’t want get too involved pouring weights, but I do a fair # of bank sinkers for others. 2oz - 16oz.
I’ll do the sinkers for you for a share of the lead.
DoubleN…pour the lead, as soon as you are done pouring, twist and pull the rod, don’t wait. get some Pam with no flour in it, spray the rod (not the mold) rod will come out easier.
