I’ve been looking at getting a pair of breathable stockingfoot waders and wading boots to go along with them. What do you guys use?

Do you have a specific environment where you want them? Salt water, fresh, cold, muddy, sandy?
Freshwater, rock/sand/moss, etc…

Bear Griles needs no foot protection for his soft delicate feet. Why do you? [:0]

Get yourself a pair of Simms gore-tex waders. I’ve had mine for about 10 years; no leaks or rips. They are a great set of waders. I had a pair from Orvis that lasted about 1 year.
If you like spending money, the new Patagonia waders have been getting rave reviews.
“Fishing is alot like sex…when its good,it’s really good, and when its bad, its still pretty good.”
Orvis has some moderatly priced waders. I think I got the whole setup for around $175. Email me and I cna give you more info.
He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.
Simms waders for sure- worth every cent
Simms freestone felt- for the sweet water
Flats boots (Simms makes a good sneaker as does Cabelas and Patagonia) for the salt
Big crocs to go over booties for boat/etc
Looks like you have some good suggestions here. If you are going for ‘breathable’ then you are already going to spend a bit of money and it’s likely going to be Gore-tex? I would hate to spend Gore-tex kind of money without trying them on. Guys, where do you find them locally?
I bought my Simms waders at Lowcountry Outfitters in Bluffton SC. Give them a call at 843-837-6200 to see what is in stock. Also, buy a wading belt for safety in case you fall into the drink; a great investment for about $10.00.

Simms is the best, but it is hard to beat Dan Bailey waders considering the price. When I lived out west I fished in them most every day of the week and caught them on plenty of briars, fences, etc. without a rip or a puncture.
i believe the chas angler carries simms
Simms has a great warranty/repair set up, I had a pair of there base level stockingfoot waders, lasted years through tough terrain finally sprung a leak in the inner leg seam, cuz I was crawling over a huge log in the high-country round here, Sent the waders to the factory and they gave me a brand new pair no questions asked. I have had em bout 3 years now with no problems, so thats like 6+ years on one pair of waders fishing from Yellowstone to Dublin American made and I love there boots too! Can’t beat em.
If it swims throw a fly at it!
Simms or Orvis. I love my Orvis and they were very affordable. I have a pair of thier Brogues too. They are hevy but they have saved my ankles more than once in the stream. Go see Josh at the Angler.
You need to think about how often you go and what time of year; are you talking about traveling the country; out west; SC or NC.
I would think about this before I invested $300 to $400 on waders and boots. Also, depending on the kind of river; rocky or sandy depends on the type boot. Your felt soles are going to be outlawed on most rivers in the next few years.
You may want to stay moderately priced (under $200) for your waders until you become an advid fisherman. You do need breathable waders; light weight. Good Luck

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Thanks Reb, maybe I should hold off for a while until I figure out if I really like this “fishing” thing.

Are the new “sticky rubber” soles that are supposed to replace felt all they are cracked up to be?
