I need to buy a new depth finder. Any sugestions in relation to
finding mud vs hard bottom. Maybe even a crystal ball to see
the shrimp on the bottom.
get penny to help you. or use the search function.
she’s taught some how to id the shrimp on an non-color unit like us poor people have
I would not pay the extra money for color. What is the use? Shrimp, fish, bait? Inshore or offshore?
OTL, I think he’s getting into deep-holing.
Check out the Lowrance with Down Scan Imaging. I don’t own it and have not used it, but it looks like it gives a much more detailed picture of the bottom than more traditional sounders.
I would be using it inshore. Deep holing/ fishing.
It would be nice to spend $200 r less. However i am
willing to spend a few extra bucks if i have to. Would
to hava a tool that is sufficent. Instead if paying to little
for not enough.

Color is great ford detection of the hardness of the bottom. I have a lowrance elite 7hdi on the console and a elite 5 on the front. I love them both. After having color I wouldn’t buy anything else.
