Needing some stingrays

I am down with the family on seabrook and need some stingrays for some sharkin, I know I know they should be easy to catch but we had No luck today or yesterday at all for stingrays. If anyone catches any I would gladly pick them up if you are around charleston, the larger the better. PM me if you catch any and I will send my cell

Thanks
Brian

Go to the folly pier, and ask for them, most people will give them to you.

Pan,

How about trying Whiting for Shark bait, I have found that whiting is one of the easiest to catch and one of the best to use when trying to catch Shark. Hell, if you catch enough whiting you will have dinner as well. They eat pretty darn good.

went to folly pier in hopes of stingrays today but nothing. Stingrays make the best shark bait when fishing off the beach at least for the big oneswhne you kayak them out , it is the only baits that crabs wont touch. I have used whiting a lot and they work good on smaller sharks but nothing garantees a good run on a 12/0 or a 14/0 reel like a ray. the whitings we have caught are too small for my rig and hook. I caught some bonnets off crabs today but would really like to go after something bigger. if anyone catches any email me at tigershark@insightbb.com and I will come pick it up. I am willing to buy them at this point we just haven’t been able to catch any which is somewhat unusual. thanks guys!!!

How do you use stingrays as shark bait? I havent heard of that but it sounds intresting. Do you cut of there wings or something?

I have been wanting to try the stingray thing.

I can’t watch the video because the internet out here sucks and the bandwidth is too low but for anything under 15lbs I have a long rigging needle that i use to run through the ray to pull my leader back through and then embed the hook in one wing and then do the same with another hook in the second wing, i almost always use the rigging needle to rig a ray. pieces of cut stingrays will work well for smaller setups and I learned the rigging technique down in TX. Down there at least 10-15 years afo you could buy rays for bait like you can shrimp down here.

Pan,

Go to the shrimp docks and tell them you need some rays and they will save some for you when they catch them in their nets. Also the mouth of the south Edisto river is a great place to catch huge stingrays.

You fish a 14/0 out of a yak? Must be like a Nantucket sleigh ride on a large tiger.

LOL no the yak is just to get the bait off shore, the 12/0 and 14/0 are on the beach. finally got a small ray last night andi the bite was on what a night never thought such a small ray could do so much scored 3 good rays today so tonight should be a great night, thanks for all the tips I will hopefully post up a shark report tomorrow. taking the family fishing inshore today
