Negril Jamaica

The wife and I are heading down in January for a week. What should we do? What shouldn’t we do? What scam do I look out for?

Fishing any good this time of year? We’re going with another couple and it would be easy to send the girls off for a day shopping while the boys go out and fish.

Watch out for the drug dealers if you go off the resort. They are everywhere and will hound to buy “some smoke” or “somting fo de nose”. Even if you are so inclined, it is often a setup to get money from you. Did not do any fishing but did dive. It was nice but I have been to better dive destinations. Have fun and watch those rum drinks, they will sneak up on you.

Thanks, we don’t plan on leaving the resort. I’m not a drug guy anyways so no worries there. Our plane lands at eleven AM, I plan on having one of those drinks in my hands by twelve.

Good times to come.

Stay off da weed mon.

Iv’e never been there but hear it is just like DF said. Most of these touristy places have less than creditable police. You may get “arrested” but all they want is cash for your release. They never even ask your name…

If you can’t stand behind our soldiers, try standing in front of them.

its not worth going fishing Ricky. just a good place to relax and have cocktails.

I do recommend you leave the resort once and go up to Ricks Cafe, just take a taxi. Its in Negril but up on the “rocks”. Its a cool bar and is safe. They have a water slide off a rock cliff that drops like 20 feet into the ocean. There is also a spot there you can go cliff diving/jumping…a 60/70ft drop. These local dudes will climb 30ft up into the trees above the jumping spot and dive 100ft.

Ricks also has good nightlife. here is a link.
