Has anyone had a problem with that this summer? Honestly I have not caught a bass since late May…No bites or anything. I see bream by the banks…I know with it being hot the bass are in deeper waters, but usually when the suns starts going down, they’ll come towards the banks…But NOTHING. It’s only about a 2-3 acre pond. Last year it wasn’t like this. Thought about having DNR come and take samples and see what’s going on.
Fish kills in these neighborhood retension ponds are common. More common is chronic low oxygen that is not bad enough to kill fish, but suppresses feeding. I use to put my rod away after memorial day, because bass fishing in my favorite ponds got extra tough. All I can say is don’t get too perturbed about a few fruitless summer bass trips and wait untill it cools down some. I use to like fall plastic frog fishing on the surface. Hard to beat those surface bites…but then I discovered for myself that it works just about year round. Anyway, don’t worry too much about your pond, unless you did see some floaters.
