Never had a chance....

Small crew, small boat, light tackle…Hit the big temp break just shy of the 226 about 8:30. Dropped 5 lines back and was just getting a snack when something thrashed the long rigger. SNAP! I can tell you for sure that a TLD 25 ain’t no match for a BIG marlin!!! Got a nice air show for about 30 seconds as he passed the boat. Tried to put the brakes on but there was only about 27 inches of 30lb test left on the spool. Line got cut somewhere close to him but just as well cause we couldn’t handle him any way. Still got the rush going on since that was our first experience with one. Pictures? of course not! Driver couldn’t get the camera out of the bag while driving and mate was trying to clear lines. Still ended up with some nice phins though…

sounds like a cool experience either way…we had one in the spread that we could not get to eat anything and that was too frustrating. how small a boat ?

Wow!

Them marlin always know to hit the lightest tackle!

niiiiiiice fish

Many a marlin have been caught on TLD 25’s with 30lb test, but you definitely have to be on your toes! Nice work getting him to bite though!
