Never ready??

Bought a new console cover so i decided to put it on the boat.I ride down to the boat and lower it on the lift and get in.i am busy putting the top on and i heard this loud splashing under my boat.I thought something fell off the boat or lift.I lean over the side and I see about 50 redfish going past my dock right under the boat.No camera,no rod.I took everything up to the house to re rig them.I watched them run past and head to the back of my creek. One redfish was at least 3 feet long.

Dear Stono…You gotta love it. It’s like seeing 25 turkeys rooting under your tree stand when you’re deer hunting, or a ■■■■■ of canvasbacks resting in the harbor 2 weeks after duck season. Ol’ Mother Nature likes to mess with our heads every now and then.

You need a small rod locker on yrru dock. Keep one in ther locked and loaded with an artificial. I bet that was a cool sight. Never seen a school of reds.

Once you see one, they will be much easier to spot later on and you’ll be hooked on chasing them. You’ll never look at the water the same way again.

Now that’s a cool report, I have yet to see a school as well in-person. One day…one day.

seeing a school like that is almost as good as catching one!!

I caught a 33 inch red in Skull Creek on a flyrod a few years ago. Those big girls are usually offshore, but I don’t doubt that a 36 inch fish was in that school.

Guys maybe 30-32 inches.Big fish leading the pack.Largest i ever saw Ralph’s son caught it a few years ago Behind Stono ferry is was about a 40 pound fish.He had a hell of a battle in a 14 foot boat by himself.

Plenty of 3 foot reds around, I’ve had a 36incher in my boat and a buddy caught a 42 incher under the Ravenel Bridge. Like sea tonic said, just seeing them sometimes is just as good as catching them. You want to see some monsters go to the fish hatchery on Wadmalaw.

Theres nothing like the "Smell" and sounds of the creek. Its not just one thing that makes it familiar..its all of it.
