I noticed the other day while cruising the harbor that there is a boat dock at the water front park in downtown Charleston , does anyone know if the public can use it ?

Charleston to add water taxi dock for downtown waterfront access

Charleston plans to add a new water taxi dock at Waterfront Park in downtown Charleston the week of Sept. 25.
A water taxi will be available to the public from the end of the ?T? shaped pier, where the water taxi will tie up to pick up and drop off passengers.
After going through a public solicitation process, Charleston City Council approved first reading of an ordinance Tuesday allowing the city to enter into an non-exclusive agreement with Charleston Water Taxi LLC, which will operate the taxi. City Council will vote on second and third readings Sept. 24.
Charleston Water Taxi also has a dock at the Charleston Maritime Center, Charleston Harbor Resort, Patriots Point and Shem Creek.
Contractor Salmons Dredging Co. built the 10-by-50-foot dock for $419,237.
A dock was previously located near the Cruise Passenger Terminal for water taxi service, but it was removed amid security concerns after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
?This transportation service will be valuable to the market area, the S.C. Aquarium, Patriots Point, Fort Sumter Museum and tours, and other downtown locations,? Mayor Joe Riley said in a news release. ?This water taxi dock will offer residents and visitors unique transportation, which doesn?t require a car to get around.?
The money for the dock is from funds received from online travel companies, according to the news release.
