New boat new memories

My family just bought about a 23-24ft sea hunt and we are looking for new spots to fish. We are new to the whole off shore fishing because we have only had a skiff and couldn’t make it far out. I told my dad it’s a dream of mine to go off shore and catch bigger fish. And so he went and sold the skiff and got the sea hunt so id appreciate if any of you guys would help out so we can catch bigger fish (fishing out of murrels inlet)

Fishing a few near shore reefs/wrecks will be your best bet to start. A simple google search will supply you with coordinates for all the reefs near you. Many different ways to fish them as there are many types of fish to be caught at a reef. Live menhaden and butterfly jigs are good for catching some of the larger species there.

That’s a great start. Add one of these and you’ll be well on your way:

You may think that is a big boat but be careful. Get a VHF radio, good GPS, watch for good weather days. 3-4 does not sound that bad until you are in it. Look for 2-3 or less with 6 plus second spacing. Then try to buddy with another boat if you go very far out. That ocean is a very big and unforgiving place.

Thank you guys for all the help. We had a 19 foot Carolina skiff so this will be new. We went to the point for the last time in the skiff thought we’d catch a few fish before it was time for it to go by only caught one whiting any idea of what fish are bitting and what baits and for Now what would be the best bet for off shore maybe 10 miles for farthest since where new to this.
