Buddy bought a brand new boat at the Boat Show, and wanted to take it on it’s maiden voyage and get some fish. So we headed up the River to the sunny part of town, and hit some structure armed with Mullet, Shrimp, and Mudders.
Fished several spots before even getting a nibble about 1 hour before low tide. Wind started to pick up making it hard to see any schooling reds. We first started out, the water was GLASS! Water was clear and about 58 degrees. Fianlly had a nibble on the mudder after the wind picked up.
Missed it, brought the bait in, chucked him back out, after i saw him live and kickin and not even a minute later, WHAM! Drag is a screaming on my favorite setup, my St Croix Mojo Inshore with the Stradic ci4 4000. Love this setup. Had some fun before bringing in the fish to get the skunk outta the boat!
Netted, snapped a few pix, reviced the fish, and by that time, had to head back in for dinner. Good day on the new boat with friends.
We are about three weeks out from our new Carolina Skiff 218 DLV, same color. Thanks for posting the picture as we can now visualize the color. Can’t wait!Did he get his from Hancknel? Nice fish, too!

Was at the Columbia boat show earlier today and they had a 218 DLV in your color there. I believe it had a 115 Yamaha on it. Also had Kut08’s friends boat in the 16’ version. Both very nice!
I still kick myself in the ass sometimes for going with a DLX.
Is that because of the hull design or something different? Thanks, Mike.

Yea, the hull design was the only thing I was referring to. Overall I’m very happy with my boat and love fishing out of it. It’s those days cutting across the harbor or even on the rivers when heading into a good chop with that flat bottom that I have second thoughts.
Good luck with your new boat! …and don’t forget to post some pics when you get it.
I will do that. I was told to load up the front (AMPLE storage) to help with the ride. I am very eager to put the new boat through its trials as I have driven a 17’ Scout since 2000. I will post some notes/pictures/observations under Boats and Motors after a few runs.
