New Boat

Finally got a chance to fish the new boat. Purchased at the boat show, it has been getting all the details added that we wanted. In fact, I took it back in on Monday to continue work, but I couldn’t wait any longer and had to fish it over the weekend.

This Bulls Bay 151 is awesome! Adding the poling platform actually felt like adding 2-3ft of boat. No one believes it is the 151, even when side by side with a standard 151.

She fished like a dream and handled the wind on both Saturday and Monday. I was able to get my old man his first 2 reds and picked up a few of my own (even got several friends on some reds this weekend). We fished with 3 people in the boat both Saturday and Monday and had no problems. I’m ready to get it back and get back on the water next weekend.

For the report: bite was decent, IOP was a bit slow on Saturday, but we boated a couple nice fish. Monday was great up the Wando. Found some nice fish and even muscled a 25" fish through about 4 pilings with some great Power Pro braid line! Thanks to the guys at Haddrell’s for that recommendation! It was team work that caught that fish, but would have been lost long before we had a chance without that braid.

Ended up 5 for 8 on Monday with a few over the slot (only fished about 2 hours).

I Let my folks take the new boat for a spin before we took over for the weekend.

Its much nicer to have a boat that can be kept in the garage!

My pops’ 2nd red ever (first red caught earlier in the day, but he didn’t want a picture of that rat).

25" we pulled out of the pilings (~6 lbs on the boga)

boat looks terrific. congrats

Congrats!!

Beautiful boat, man. Congratulations on a successful weekend and removing the skunk so quickly.

Man that is a fine boat! I’ve been looking for a second (smaller) boat, and that is exactly what I would want. But I’ll have to buy something cheap and used.

Congratulations!

Thanks everyone! I’ll be sure to post more reports and give updates on the boat. Also may be interested in fishin with anyone who wants to go out and give some tips.

nice fishing! and that is a bad*** boat!

There is no greater fan of fly fishing than the mud minnow.

Thanks again.

I guess I could include a pic of my first fish on the boat. Nothing special, but the boat works…

What kind of power are you running? I mean, I know it’s Yammie powered, but what HP? I looked at that boat with the 25 and with the 40. What are your performance numbers with it?

19’ Sea-Pro CC
“Swagger Wagon”
Yamaha 115 - 2 stroke
14’ CMF Skiff
25 Johnson - 2 stroke
14’ Heritage Redfish

Hey Texas, sorry for the delayed response.

We have the 40hp, boat is rated up to 50. We ran this weekend and with a full load we were turning 5800 rpm. Hole shot can be slow depending on your weight distribution, but boat runs great wot! With a full load and 2 people we were right at about 29mph according to the GPS (against the wind). Loos like top speed is going to be just over 30 for us.

Did a sea trial with a 50 hp and that thing was fast! Of course it was just base hull and no add-ons.
