It looks like Cracker Boats has some local competition

This is really a sweet ride, and they even offer financing!

I can build you a flats boat. Less than 2 weeks build time. 10 or 13 feet long by 3 ft wide and 1 ft tall. Wood construction.

Update: Reworked plans and improved jig. Boats can now be ready in 3-5 days.

10 ft boat $300

13 ft $450

These are for the boat only. No flotation devices or anchors included. You will need to provide your own paddles or poles. $75 down payment. Down payment is non refundable. Rest due after you are satisfied with test run. Financing also available. $100 finance charge. 6 month financing for the 10 ft boat and 12 month financing for the 13 ft boat. Boats will be painted white on exterior and white with non skid on interior.

10 ft boat financed $300 + $100 finance charge = $400- $75 down payment= $325 financed at 6 months. Payments are $55 month for 6 months.

13 ft boat financed $450 + $100 finance charge = $550 -$75 down payment = $475 financed for 12 months. Payments are $40 month for 12 months.

Sad!

I noticed this at some point last week and just shook my head…

Hard to believe that someone would consider this as a business option.

That can’t be real. But if they finance, I’ll take two!!! (Note sarcasm)

Saw this the other day Larry. Was gonna tell you about it, but didn’t want you to get upset

Pretty smooth business plan, I bet they are flying off the jig:sunglasses:

Wonder what the warranty is on a sweet ride like that? I’d hate to have a sunk boat and still have to make those $40 monthly payments. What is the recommended HP for one of those? I’d say no more than a 150.

If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.

Competition is a good thing, Syd  I wonder if this guy is for real:question:

By my fuzzy math, $100 finance charge on $300 for 6 months is a mere 60% interest rate. That’s a bargain. He should do well:smiley:

I don’t know, I sure can’t beat his 3-5 day delivery time[:0] And did you see that bottom profile? Man that is nice:smiley:

I don’t know how to compete against that, but I’ll strive to persevere. I finish the bottoms of mine to match the roof joists. Maybe I should re-think my strategy.

Don’t bury me in one of yours, that would be a waste of a good boat!

He could also advertise them up north as sleds for snow and double his market!

I think that is his first one, there isn’t enough paint on the driveway yet…reckon he owns that property?

I guess it’s a good thing he’s selling boats instead of airplanes.

Anybody want to go in halves with me on one and do our test ride on Bulls Bay???

I bet that is a young boy and his Dad is trying to teach him about business. He probably gave him $100 to ‘start’ to see how creative he was. His Dad also probably came up with the idea of financing.

He learns about boat building, finance and starting up a business…

In about 15 to 20 years he is going to be the one laughing…

I would be scared to sit in the middle of that thing! It looks like it would fold up on you like a book. Come to think about it, can you get seats as an option? Maybe a lawn chair:smiley: What do you think your chances are if you got checked by DNR or the Coasties[:0] Why there must be 2 whole sheets of plywood in that build. He got most of the floor and 1 side out of one sheet on the 10ft model:wink:

Cracker; You could buy him out and put a non-compete clause in the contract! You could acquire all of his proprietary technological innovations in the deal.
