My son, two daughters, daughter in law, daughters boyfriend and myself launched boat at Wappoo and rode out at 40 mph putting lines in at 5:30 in 300 ft. Daughter in law caught her first four Mahi on her first trip out,I think she’s hooked. We were off to a great start when the steering started to fail.Pulled lines in at 8:45 and headed to the hill with nearly no steering when back at the dock. Loading at Wappoo with no nearly steering was not on my bucket list and wouldn’t advice it. Overall a wonderful day.
Ended up with 14 nice fish and loosing two at boat.

Pretty good for 3hrs of fishing.
I had something similar happen before so now I carry a couple bottles of oil with me.
Thought I had some trim tab oil but couldn’t find it

also, sounds like you made it back with just enough, and I’m sure you knew this already, but just thought I’d mention for those that may not know: any fluid will work to top off a low steering system in an emergency including seawater as a last resort (although I wouldn’t recommend for obvious corrosion problems).
Congrats on a great day of fishing, sure as heck beats my monday. Loading at wappoo in a running current is challenging enough, can’t imagine what it’s like with nonresponsive steering.
Millacd, Thanks for the information. I did not know that.
