So I just bought quite a few of the new weedless hooks from Eye Strike. Was curious is there a different technique I should use when using these in the grass and oyster banks more closely than I would the traditional style hooks. Also do different Z-mann baits present better or worse with the weedless hooks.
I would think that the only difference would be, like you said, you could throw them further up into the grass, being weedless and all…

Tigershk21 I’m sorry I just saw this, thanks for pointing it out to me. In short, there is nothing different you need to do with them as far as presenting your lure. The hooks are 3/0 so a little larger than a trout eye. They were designed for tournament redfishing, thus the larger hook. They will pull right through spartina and to an extent oysters. If you don’t “finesse” them through structure, the weedguard may spring. It is a tradeoff between being weedless and missing fish. I think they are the perfect compromise. We lose very few fish with them, with a soft trout bite sometimes being the exception. It can help to let the fish take the bait a split second longer to ensure a good hookset. We use them fishing submerged timber in brackish or fresh water a lot and I will tell you it has been a game changer for us. You can cast right into a bush and finesse the lure through and often that’s where the fish are holding. Try that with a non-weedless jig…
Lastly, being a little larger hook a somewhat longer lure matches well with them, something like a Diezel Minnow or 4" swimmerz. But we use them all the time with minnowz, trout tricks etc.
Thanks hope you like them!
