New Flies, Some Old ....

Been tying, tried a few out yesterday with no luck …

Glass Minnow looks fantastic under the water, nice slow sink rate

Tied with some darker colors, would look like a minnow head, some red sili legs for the guts … great action too

Crab or whatever, he’s going to meet a tailer soon, the ep streamer brush is great and easy to work with for beginners … $7 ties 15 or so flies, if tied sparsley

Sand Flea, tried to change some stuff up and make it my own … less technical than I thought it would be

Shrimp Squid … yes they breed …

Grass Carp flies, someone said they hadn’t seen them and wanted too, I think I posted these previously …

Good luck everyone, hope everyone is catching more fish than I … All I caught was a sunburn yesterday haha

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Let me know when I can come by and grab the carp flies.

Great looking flies. I really like the sand flea, as I am determined to land a pompano on the fly this summer. did some experimenting with a design as well. I will post some pics when.I get home. Could have used that glass minnow this morning.

yeah hes easy, EP Fiber and some stuff thes shiny, I know that helps. Do you know how to tie with EP Fibers, if not I can post a how too …

Bought some the other day in hopes of tying a finger mullet with black tail but have yet to give it a go. Don’t know to do that tail on his fly yet either haha

i have never tied one with a tail … you could probably stick white with a sharpie to color, tie it down and split it out

Yea that may work
I am gonna play with it tomorrow since it will be raining and see what I can come up with. Got a quick question for ya, what fly do you use when you can sight reddish holding in say 2-3ft water but not actively feeding? Saw a lot today cruising around grass clumps and they weren’t interested in clousers, crab patterns, copperhead, or an m4.

mbf- some “purists” don’t like it, but a dupre spoon fly is ideal for that situation. good luck

all you do for the black tail is tie in black ep fibers on the back of your minnow. would i reccomend this? NO! it ruins the action of the fly it makes it twist and swim wrong. there may be a way to do it better than how i do but it definitly kills the classic ep minnow action for me.

MBF, throw an EP minnow right in there face, if they aren’t actively feeding he will have to look tasty and something familiar, maybe a shrimp, you’re presentation is what will catch the fish, slow strip hit him in the face (about 1-2 feet away in his site range, doesn’t taking throw closer) or atleast until he spooks … oh yeah tied a mullet, could of made him longer but it was a first go, they always get prettier the more I tie here he is

Thanks for the input on the dupree spoon. I will have to pick some up and atleast have them in the flybox just in case. That is a sweet looking fly, not sure how they ride in the water but they do look good haha. Here is what I was talking about…

well you can always tie it in white … color him with a sharpie … then coat him in ProCure haha

I guess the logical. Thing to do is buy one from puglisi and then copy it

whats wrong with mine haha, except it isn’t as long … I would rather look at pictures and copy it, a pack of EP Fibers is $6 or $7, I would rather buy that than a fly

Nothing, great looking fly. I meant if I bought his i could actually hold it and inspect it so to say. I would MUCH rather tie my own flies. I have bought less than ten before i started tying. I love to tie. i havent worked with the EP fibers so I will have to see how it goes.

I took pictures step by step when I tied that guy you want me to do a separate thread of post by post, one thing I learned quickly, more is better …

That would be sweet. Any help going into it would be great. Hook me up with that sand flea pattern if you are feeling that generous haha:sunglasses:

haha, I didn the same thing I told you not to do, I bought one and copied it made it my own, use the fluffy felt vs the regular felt, I will do a how to, on him too … I will post the thread later for the “how to imperfect mullet” haha
