I need a new one on my boat and I want a garmin. Does anybody know anything about these 2 models: gpsmap 541 and 546?
Note: I only want the plotter, not the combo unit with the sounder.
I have the 441s which is the slightly smaller version of the 541. I really do like mine and keep saying that I am going to learn how to use all of the features. I never do of course. Don’t know about the 546 but Garmin’s website provides specs on every unit they make.
I have the 541s nice little unit. I also have the bluechart g2 vision card for it nice addition as well…

I have the 546s and love it. color is awesome and clear at all times. really good for nav. I still want to get g2 card also for upgraded features. would recommend. im sure the 441s is the same thing the 6 is just meaning that the pixels are higher that is it
I have the 541, the main difference in the two is the processor speed and I believe the 546 will factor in an acctual course vs. a line to your destination. If you are going to invest in the G2 card and have a deticated plotter I would upgrade to the 546 because of the processor speed and the course mapping abilites.
yeah he is on point with the G2 card it will give you autoguidance anyway so you dont have to build routes I believe
546 has digital sonar and very crisp screen. 541 has analog sonar and clarity is way less, and much slower.
